Skillshop Episode 01: Circuit Simulation with Proteus

IEEE BUET Student Branch and IEEE WIE BUET SB Affinity Group organized a workshop on “Circuit Simulation with Proteus” which marked the beginning of “SKILLSHOP” – series workshops on Software skill development. The instructors of the workshop were Shakil Anwar, General Secretary, IEEE BUET SB and Sakib Chowdhury, Vice Chairperson (Activity), IEEE BUET SB. A total of 52 participants, all from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) attended the workshop.

Event Name: Skillshop Episode 01: Circuit Simulation with Proteus

Date: 18 June 2020

Time: 03:00 PM – 05:30 PM (GMT+6)

Venue: Online Platform (Zoom)

Number of Participants: 52

Percentage of IEEE Members among Participants: 75%

Organised by:

  • IEEE BUET Student Branch
  • IEEE WIE BUET SB Affinity group

Instructors:

  • Md. Shakil Anwar, General Secretary, IEEE BUET Student Branch
  • Sakib Chowdhury, Vice Chairperson (Activity), IEEE BUET Student Branch

With all the participants joining 10 minutes earlier, the workshop commenced at 03:00 PM. Satyaki Banik, Chair of IEEE BUET Student Branch initiated with a brief introduction about the idea of arranging series workshops on technical skill development. He then handed the session over to Md. Shakil Anwar. He first instructed the participants about how to configure their computer screen for effective management of their workspace, so that they could create simulations on their own while observing the instructor simultaneously.

After that, the simulation session on Proteus started. Sakib Chowdhury and Md. Shakil Anwar taught the participants about basic circuit simulations with LED toggling with SPST switches. The participants were also instructed with first hand experience about building voltage regulator circuits and how to analyze the behavior of circuits with frequency response and voltage sweeping techniques. At the end of the workshop, participants were shown how to simulate Arduino based projects with proteus.

After the tutorial session, a feedback form was provided to the participants. Workshop slides, simulation files and video recording of the workshop were sent to the participants through email afterwards.

The event ended with a group photo taken online through the Zoom platform and a note of thanks from Satyaki Banik to the participants.
